About Melanoma Treatment
Melanoma is one of the four most common types of skin cancer. Australia also happens to have some of the highest incidences of Melanoma diagnosed in nearly 1 in 10 of all cancer. It can occur as a result of genetic predisposition or from increased exposure to UV radiation. Symptoms usually present themselves at an early stage as changes in colour, shape or growth of moles anywhere on the body and can spread quire rapidly.
All forms of Melanoma should be surgically removed. Each patient needs to be reviewed by our doctor and an appropriate treatment and on-going skin care plan is developed to suit your specific case.
Our Doctor has received advanced training in detection and removal of skin cancers. Typically, she will remove the suspected area of skin along with a good margin of normal skin. The specimen will be sent away for pathology laboratory assessment.
